When it comes to content, blogging is one of the most important things your brand can do, not only because of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) value, but because instead of just posting it to social where it has a short life span, it’s a way to refer back and utilize your website as the central information hub, which you 100% want.


I get asked a lot by current clients and even friends hoping to pick my brain how to optimize and reshare blog posts on Instagram to get the best engagement.

Instagram is a very visual platform and unfortunately, unlike many other social platforms, they do not support external linking in their captions. The swipe up feature in stories is the ideal, but not available for organic posts on accounts with less than 10,000 followers. So what do you do? What is the best way to optimize and reshare your blog posts on Instagram?

We recommend a 3-Step approach for posting your blog content on Instagram:

The Post

We recommend either utilizing images from the blog or if you do not have images, create a custom graphic. In the caption, Instagram rewards long form content, so instead of immediately telling people to visit your blog, we recommend posting a few paragraph excerpts from the blog and then at the bottom tell people to visit the link in bio to read more

Utilize a Linktree

Linktree is a great way to have multiple links available in one spot on any social media profile and it’s free! We recommend making your top link your newest blog post!

Post to your Story

Based on the new Instagram algorithm and layout, Instagram stories are a vital part of staying in front of your followers so you want to also make sure you share your blog to your story! There are two ways to do so:

  1. Our preferred method is to share the post to your story. This allows you to add “new post” or “tap here” graphics as well as tag relevant profiles or hashtags for maximum exposure.
  2. The other way is to create a completely new story post to post to the story. With this offer, you would also want to add a call out that the link is in bio.
